Sound does not bolt on to what you already do.
It changes how you hold a room.
This twenty hour training, held over three properly full days, is your entry point into working with sound healing in a way that is grounded, practical and deeply human. This is less about becoming a standalone sound healer in 3 days - which we would like to emphasise is NOT POSSIBLE - and more about understanding the core architecture of frequency and sound healing skills so that you can blend it into other offerings and spaces as an accessory, add-on or expansion.
You will learn to integrate sound so that it feels effortless and authentic, and by the end you will not merely understand the mechanics of it, you will know how to use it in your personal and professional world in a way that is aligned, intuitive and recognisably yours. Nobody here is going to ask you to become somebody else or to replicate a format. We are expanding what is already in your hands.
The three days give you a clear, practical foundation without the overwhelm and without any spiritual bypassing. You will explore the science, the energetics and the musical theory behind sound healing and therapy while developing real, usable skills on crystal and metal bowls, walking gongs, percussion, drums, shruti box and tuning forks.
More importantly, this training is about application. How sound moves through the nervous system. How it shifts a room. How it can be woven into what you already do, whether you are guiding a class, holding a client, teaching children, or building experiences around food and community.
You leave with the confidence to deliver a complete compact sound session, and with a clear understanding of how to fold sound into your existing work without it feeling forced, separate or performative. It behaves like a missing layer rather than a new modality.
Certification is by IPHM, the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine, and the Complementary Medical Association, giving you professional, insurable accreditation worldwide. It runs here at Yoke in Agonda, South Goa, in the jungle shala, two minutes from the sea.

Yoke's founder Janie is a Sound Practitioner with 10+ years experience in delivering transformative soundscapes and 12+ years of teaching experience encompassing sound, yoga, meditation and Reiki. Janie's methods are centred on the alchemy of science and spirituality, centring the intersectional nature of wellness.
A sound practitioner & teacher trainer, yoga teacher, Reiki master, author and founder of retreat venue Yoke Goa, Janie is originally from the southeast of England, but has spent most of her adult life in a work pattern that has had her bouncing between places such as the US, France, Spain, China and now India. Working at the intersection of neuroscience, psychology and energetic practice, she designs immersive sound experiences that invite deep nervous system recovery, altered states of awareness and lasting personal transformation. Her approach has been shaped as much by a lifelong fascination with consciousness and psychdelia as it has by an encyclopaedic musical range that reaches from classical to techno via grunge, drum’n’bass and everything in between. Her path is inextricably linked to her own experience of brain tumour, breakdown and corporate burnout; the totality of which has produced a methodology that is both scientifically informed and intuitively led. A classically trained musician, Janie composes richly layered sonic environments that move a long way past the conventional sound bath. She mastered gong with the pioneering British sound healer Sheila Whittaker, and trained in sound therapy with the College of Sound Healing as well as extensively in the Nepalese Himalayan tradition and 1:1 with sound masters across the globe. She has also studied DJing and music production, and was an early adopter of digital sounds in the healing space. Her particular interest is the impact of sound on PTSD, chronic stress and anxiety, ADHD and the neurodivergent experience. Janie has worked full time in sound since 2017 and has practised yoga for over twenty years. She is a senior yoga teacher, an Usui Reiki Master, a certified neuroscience coach, and holds a trauma-informed practice certification. She is Director of Sound Science at CH2 Foundation, a Pune-based non-profit bringing holistic methods to the frontline of modern medicine in partnership with India's Ministry of AYUSH, and Global Brand Director of Raaha Wellness. Her book, The Healing Power of Sound, was published by David & Charles in 2024.

FAQ
DO I NEED MY OWN INSTRUMENTS?
No. In fact, it’s better to wait until you have completed the training before you start buying as you’ll likely find your decisions are influenced by what you learn and the chance to play a variety of instruments. If you do already have instruments, it’s great to bring them along, if you can.
AM I INSURED AS A SOUND HEALER AFTER THIS COURSE?
You will get a certificate specifying that you have completed an Integrated Sound Healing Training. You will need to arrange your own insurance, and our certificate will allow you to do this. Please note that we really do feel you can’t become a sound healer in 3 days! This is an access course designed to get you started with smaller offerings, specifically integrated ones. Your certificate reflects this. We’d love to welcome you to our 7 or 21 Day sound healer courses when you’re ready to go further.

Breakfast and lunch are included, served at our onsite cafe which is fully vegetarian and used to catering for a range of dietary requirements. Dinner is NOT included. We will host a closing night beach dinner (food on this final night IS included), but for the rest of the evenings we suggest you go and check our amazing array of 100+ local restaurants - we’ll share our list of faves with you.
People sometimes get confused, so here's the clarity!
Yoke Goa is a physical space, retreat venue and sound studio.
Janie - aka Silence & Noise - is Yoke Goa's founder and owner. She designed to site to be a space that could host her own sound trainings, as well as those of other facilitators.
So Yoke Goa is the venue that HOLDS Silence & Noise - which is a brand name that specifically holds not only Janie's proprietary sound healing trainings, but also her events, research, writing and mentorship programmes that exist OUTSIDE of Yoke Goa.
When you come and train at Yoke, you'll mostly be doing a training that Janie is leading or co-hosting. Yoke is occasionally hired out to third party facilitators who book the venue to host their own trainings, but we don't market these specifically as Yoke offerings, they are under the remit of the guest host.
