About the Role

FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER
Yoke Goa · Agonda, South Goa · Season 2026/27

Reports to: Operations Manager
Location: On site at reception, Agonda, South Goa.
Contract: Six months on site, October 2026 to April 2027, with the potential for a remote role from May 2027 to October 2027 through our low season for the right person.
Salary: ₹25k-30k per month on site. ₹15k per month low-season remote.

THE OPPORTUNITY
You are the first face and the last face. Somebody steps off a very long flight, into a very warm night, at the end of a road they were not entirely sure they had right, and there you are. That moment sets the tone for everything that follows, which makes this the most underestimated job in hospitality. We do not underestimate it.

It is also, frankly, two jobs stitched together. Half of it is reception and guest relations. The other half is the administrative engine of the business: inboxes, bookings, spreadsheets, suppliers, diaries, the things that keep a small independent operation from quietly unravelling. If you like variety and you are allergic to being bored, this will suit you very well.

There is a real prize at the end of it too. For the right person, the role continues remotely through the monsoon and low season, which means this has potential to go beyond a seasonal six-month gig. We are looking to build a longer relationship with this role, for the right person who can be the Founder's right hand through the whole year.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN
GUESTS
• First point of contact for every guest, in person, on WhatsApp, by email and by phone.
• Arrivals, check in and check out, room allocation and the daily arrivals board.
• The daily orchestration of what guests are actually doing: class bookings, spa appointments, treatment scheduling, dinner sittings, and the diplomatic reshuffle when a retreat group swallows the whole schedule.
• Knowing people. Names, why they came, what they said at breakfast, whether they are travelling solo and could do with an introduction. Anyone can hand over a key but THIS is the actual skill.
• Handling the wobbles: the room that is not ready, the taxi that did not come, the guest who arrives carrying more than luggage.

BOOKINGS & REVENUE ADMIN
• Guided by the Operations Manager, you'll have eyes on our own booking system and the OTA channels, including rates, availability and inventory accuracy.
• Enquiries and conversions, including the ones that arrive at odd hours from odd time zones.
• Deposits, payments, invoices and the daily reconciliation handed to the Operations Manager.
• Retreat and training group admin: rooming lists, dietary requirements, arrival schedules, pre-arrival communications.

OFFICE & FOUNDER SUPPORT
• Maintaining our records, spreadsheets and shared drives so that things can actually be found.
• Supplier and contractor correspondence, and chasing the things that need chasing.
• Feeding the marketing team from the ground: guest stories, photographs, reviews and the moments worth capturing.
• Diary management, meeting coordination and travel logistics for the founder when she gets submerged in trainings and has no desk time of her own.

WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE
Guests use your name in their reviews. Direct and repeat bookings climb because people felt personally looked after rather than efficiently processed. Nothing falls between the cracks of the calendar, the founder stops carrying admin she should not be carrying, and the Operations Manager stops checking whether you have done it.

WHAT WE OFFER
• Breakfast and lunch provided on site.
• Free access to our classes and facilities, taken when reception cover allows.
• A genuine route to year-round work through the remote low-season role.
• Real proximity to how an independent wellness business is actually run, which is an education you cannot buy.
• ₹5k monthly stipend towards a local stay if you are not already local (payable direct to the stay).

THE LOW SEASON REMOTE ROLE
From May to October 2027 the site is quiet and then closed for the monsoon, but the business is not. Bookings, enquiries, retreat host correspondence and the founder's diary all continue. For the right person we will offer a reduced-hours remote continuation, which we would agree together in March 2027 based on how the season has gone. It is an intention rather than a guarantee, and we would rather say that clearly than imply otherwise.

HOURS, LEAVE & ABSENCE
• Full time on site across the season, working to a reception rota agreed with the Operations Manager.
• Reception must always be covered for guests, so cover is agreed in advance rather than assumed.
• Our goal is a day off each week once the site is running.
• During super peak, roughly 15 December to 11 January, full days off cannot be guaranteed.
• Short leave outside super peak is usually granted with at least seven days' notice.

CONDUCT
The site is non-smoking. Staff do not drink alcohol on site except at hosted events with the founder's approval, and turning up to work under the influence of anything is gross misconduct. As a foreign-owned business we are under additional scrutiny from the authorities, and kitchen hygiene and licensing standards are part of that. Guest safety and comfort come before everything.

HOW TO APPLY
Send your CV to hello@yokegoa.com and tell us about a guest you will never forget. Good or bad, we are not fussy about which.

Applicants from anywhere and of any gender identity are welcome to apply although we keenly welcome Goan-based applicants for this role. We are a non-discriminatory business. If you do not have a legal right to work in India at point of application we will discuss your visa options and ensure you can come to us legally compliant at point of offer.

Requirements

Who we're looking for

  • Front of house, reservations, guest relations or executive assistant experience, ideally in a boutique property, retreat centre, hostel or good restaurant rather than a large chain.

  • Genuinely warm and quick with people, and curious about them.

  • Properly organised. Comfortable with booking systems, spreadsheets, shared drives and a busy inbox.

  • Calm with people who are not calm.

  • Fluent English. Other languages are very welcome given who walks through our door.

  • Discreet. You will see the business from the inside.

  • India experience preferred. Konkani, Hindi or Marathi alongside English is a strong advantage.

Who this isn't for

Anybody who wants to hide behind a desk, and anybody who finds other people's feelings an inconvenience. Also, honestly, anybody who only wants the guest-facing half; the admin is not the boring bit you tolerate, it is half of the role.

About the Company

Yoke is a fourteen room retreat (capacity of 24 guests) in Agonda, South Goa, sitting in the gap between the beach and the jungle. There is a cafe the whole village is welcome in, a rooftop yoga space, a sauna & ice space tucked under the jungle canopy and a sound studio in the trees where most of the interesting things happen.

We run our own sound and movement trainings, host retreats for teachers and schools from all over the world, and keep an evening schedule that pulls people in from up and down the coast. Guests come to us for deep rest, nervous system recovery, and the kind of week that quietly rearranges something. Adults only, three nights minimum, closed through the monsoon.

We are small, independent and founder led. That means genuine influence over how things get done, and it also means everybody occasionally does things that are nowhere near their job description. If that reads as freedom rather than a warning sign, we should probably talk.
