About the Role
Sound Artists will be offered a blend of opportunities that are a mix between delivering our programme of house proprietary sound sessions and hosting your own freestyle sound offerings, which can be hybrids with other methods. We have many wonderful facilitators and there are so many more in the area, so we hope there will be plentiful opportunity for co-creating multi-modal offerings and events. The world (well, Goa) is your oyster!
BASIC TERMS
* Payment is 60% facilitator / 40% Yoke on the ticket price for all events. Prices may vary according to special offers although we try to keep it simple.
* Payment shifts to 50/50 if any of our instruments are used in your sessions.
* Payment is in cash at the end of each session.
* Facilitators are asked to welcome our staff and volunteers at any session free of charge. In exchange, you will be welcome to attend any other house session free of charge.
* All session formats must be signed off with our founder and lead practitioner.
* We are building a unique, sound-led space that we want all our sound artists to feel an integral part of and contribute to, so we ask for a modicum of loyalty. Therefore other sessions held in our immediate neighbourhood of Agonda are a conflict of interests and are strictly prohibited; we are more relaxed for sessions elsewhere in neighbouring villages but ask you for some awareness of the local politics of conflictual programming. It's always an open and well-intentioned conversation.

Please send an email via hello@yokegoa.com sharing your sound story, and a 30 minute video of you showcasing the kind of offering you'd like to bring to us (this will be held in confidence and only viewed by our lead practitioner/founder). Please be sure to include a copy of your certification/s, details of the instruments you play, what your sessions feel like, your manifesto for soundwork, and any other words you feel compelled to share.
A NOTE ON VISAS
It is illegal to work in India on a tourist visa. If you are invited to join us we will discuss your visa options and support you in the appropriate channel to ensure compliance on all sides.
Requirements
We are looking for practicing Sound Healers/Therapists/Facilitators or Artists - however you self-define! You should have been professionally trained and certified, and in regular public-facing practice for at least 12 months.
Experience in hosting creative, dynamic sound sessions. We are looking for facilitators who move beyond the basic and integrate a blend of skills and styles into their soundwork. We especially interested in those with experience in digital formats, DJing, AV skills and share our approach to crafting innovatibe new ways to bring people to the soundspace.
A confident approach to space holding - we work with sound artists who can lead and guide the space beyond just the sound, who are confident on the mic and in front of a crowd
We have an expectation that you are trauma-informed and able to safely weave this awareness through every aspect of your offerings. If you're uncertain in this area, we'll be happy to share some great online courses to help build this critical area in advance of your arrival.
Your own instruments. We have a large range of instruments onsite, much of which is the personal collection of our founder. On arrangement and discussion with her directly, you may be given permission to use some instruments, but we do expect you to provide your own core instrumentation and kit rather than turn up empty-handed!
Located in or willing to relocate to Canacona, Goa (at your expense, this is NOT an accommodation-inclusive position).
About the Company
Yoke is a fourteen room retreat (capacity of 24 guests) in Agonda, South Goa, sitting in the gap between the beach and the jungle. There is a cafe the whole village is welcome in, a rooftop yoga space, a sauna & ice space tucked under the jungle canopy and a sound studio in the trees where most of the interesting things happen.
We run our own sound and movement trainings, host retreats for teachers and schools from all over the world, and keep an evening schedule that pulls people in from up and down the coast. Guests come to us for deep rest, nervous system recovery, and the kind of week that quietly rearranges something. Adults only, three nights minimum, closed through the monsoon.
We are small, independent and founder led, with our heart and soul focused on sound healing training as our path to a beautiful, purposeful life.
